Heavy lift shipping line Rickmers-Linie has delivered the first ferry manufactured by way of a Bangladesh shipyard for European owners, agreeable the vessel Baltic Winter.The Western Marine shipyard in Chittagong built the 470 tonne ferry, measuring 49.8 m long and 11.2 m wide. The vessel is competent at transporting 28 cars and 147 passengers.Hundested-Rørvig Færgefart AS – the proprietor and operator with the newbuild – has named the vessel Isefjord.
Isefjord was lifted onto Baltic Winter using its two aboard 400-tonne cranes. The vessel ended up being transported to Hendested, Denmark over a six-week voyage. Upon arrival, Isefjord was discharged directly waters of Kattegat.
“We accommodated this special shipment during our regular westbound service in the Bay of Bengal, India and Middle East returning to Europe,” noted Ulrich Ulrichs, CEO and ceo of Rickmers-Linie.
HLPFI reported on April 8, 2013 that the Baltic Winter are going to be renamed Rickmers Dubai. It does not take sister ship of Rickmers Chennai, that was chartered for the Rickmers-Linie fleet a couple weeks ago.
